Role: Programme Coordinator

 

Dream A Dream Overview

Dream A Dream was started in November 1999 by a group of 12 young people. Dream A Dream today is a professionally run, registered not-for-profit trust working with over 500 children coming from vulnerable backgrounds such as children from the streets / slum communities, runaway children and orphans among others.

 

"Empowering children from vulnerable backgrounds by developing life skills and at the same time sensitizing the community through active volunteering, leading to a non-discriminatory society where unique differences are appreciated", is the vision of Dream A Dream

 

We hope to achieve this by providing sustained life skill development programs to children through exposure to sports, outdoor camps, creative arts, civic awareness, life skills, mentoring, computer training programs and theatre among others. Secondly, creating a strong community participation model through volunteer-based programmes leading to empowerment and sensitization about children's issues among the community. Today, this has developed into a full-fledged program including over 600 volunteers.

 

Job Description

 

General

ª       Oversee the implementation of specific programmes on a weekly basis

ª       Coordinate closely with NGO Partner Centres regarding the availability of children, venues, sessions, cancellations and ad hoc programmes

ª       Maintain relationships with partner NGO's through regular meetings and email and phone contact.

ª       Source and utilise a database of resource people / professional experts for designing and executing programmes for Dream A Dream

ª       Maintain a database for the participation record of children in your programmes

ª       Maintain a profile of all the children in your programmes and update their progress at regular intervals

ª       Ensure all life skill assessment data is collected and recorded for your programmes and participate in the analysing of the data

ª       Complete financial accounts related to your programmes – budget, expenditure and running costs.

ª       Maintain a log of all cancelled sessions, or volunteer absences and reasons for such.

ª       Liaise with Corporate employees in the designing, setting up, and implementation of new programmes or one off programmes.

ª       Send written reports to partner organisations on a regular basis including session reports, volunteer feedback, minutes of meetings and programme itineraries when required

ª       Write quarterly reports and external reports to partners in a timely manner, keeping within deadlines set

ª       Assist in the designing and implementation of new programmes

ª       Attend programme sessions on a regular basis to review and monitor their execution

 

Volunteer Management

ª       Coordinate with volunteers on the programmes to ensure regularity of participation and feedback, and to ensure reports are duly handed in and assessments recorded.

ª       Recruit, Engage, Communicate, Motivate, appreciate and provide incentives for volunteers on your programmes

ª       Maintain a database for the participation record of volunteers in your programmes.

 

Logistics

ª       Arrange all logistical efforts related to your programmes including transport of children and volunteers, purchasing of snacks, organising materials, booking external agents to conduct sessions, ensuring photographs are taken and that session reports are written and relevant data is recorded.

 

Team Role

ª       Attend all team meetings, team outings and team building exercises

ª       Understand the strategic goals of the organisation and understand your role in working towards achieving them

ª       Complete additional tasks set by your Line Manager or the Director

ª       Attend trainings and workshops on an ad hoc basis

ª       Ensure a professional attitude and approach to your work at all times

ª       Coordinate with other members in the team to ensure smooth and efficient running of your programmes with regards to volunteer involvement, finances and fundraising.

ª       Participate with the team in the annual planning for the organisation on a yearly basis
